Day 4 || 30 Day Anime Challenge

Favourite Female Anime Character Ever

HAH....joking~

I'm sure from the video you could guess where I'm headed for. If you thought of Gintama, you're right. The female cast from the anime has placed in a VIP seat in my favourites department that over rules every other female character I've seen before.

So let's get to it, shall we?

Kagura

"This planet Earth is a star of freedom, yes? Here, it is okay to live the way you want to." ~ Kagura ~

Member of the Yorozuya, Kagura serves as one of the main heroines of the Gintama series. At first, she seemed nothing more than a 5'1" girl who just happened to have a run in with Gintoki. Later on, however, we get to see she's not really human. She's an alien with a tremendous strength power that could easily destroy buildings and huge monsters if she wants to. What I find sad for her was that even though she has a cool gift, she despises it as her powers were due to her lineage of the Yato Tribe.

To explain further on Kagura's perspective of her bloodline, the Yato tribe are warriors that only lived to kill one another. That in itself was able to cause a conflict between her family members, basically, her brother Kamui and her father Umibozu, which ended up with them leaving her with her sick mother. Her mother then passed away and being left alone with some knowledge that her brother and father won't be back for her, she decided to leave her planet and came to Earth to start a new life.

Despite her past, Kagura never seemed to forget to smile and have fun with the gang. She even managed to adopt a huge pet dog and named him Sadaru. Seems like she did try to have a pet of her own previously but all of them ended up dead because of her deathly clutch. (I feel her on this one)

The apparels she usually wears greatly resembles of traditional Chinese clothes. Red Cheongsam which symbolizes protection from bad spirits and good fortune and two cups like accessories on her head which are called pipings really compliment well with her purple umbrella she carries around with her. Though it's obvious that the umbrella is to keep herself wet free from the rain, it was actually to shade her from the sun since the Yato Tribe population has a sensitive skin towards sunlight. Not forgetting that her umbrella has a machine gun function as well and she uses them efficiently in her fights.

They had questioned whether she's a heroine material since her behaviour contradicts the notion of being one but I digress. Even if her actions are breaking the rules of being one, I still think that seat should have a spot for someone as spiritually strong as Kagura.

Another thing that should be taken note is that her seiyuu, Rie Kugiyama, really did well in voicing her. Voicing other popular tsundere characters like Taiga from Toradora and Louise from Zero no Tsukaima, it was fun to hear her voice as someone rather rough as Kagura.

Tae Shimura

"Get on your knees! I am the Queen of the Kabuki District!" ~ Shimura Tae ~

Older sister to one of the main character glass - I mean - Shinpachi, she is seen in the first few episodes as one of the owners of their family Dojo, Koudoukan. Saving the dojo from debt that their deceased father had left them was their top priority so, in the end, she decided to work as a hostess in a Cabaret Club called Snack Smile. There, she was relied on to handle rude customers and even had the luxury and sadistic side to abuse them as much as she desired.

Many people called someone as strong since they had powers to vanquish evil but what about that evil which aren't exactly visible to them? Physically strong is one thing but Tae has this one quality that I admire to no end. Her ability to stay strong emotionally and mentally while staying true to herself even in the mids the darkest hours. It really brings tears to my eyes every time I watched her struggle to get everyone together. Possibly because of that had she earned a stalker, an admirer and high respect from her colleague at Snack Smile.

Tae's normal apparels are no different from the typical Japanese kimono. Though she seems lady like, her clothes don't seem to hinder her whenever she initiates her assaults. Her weapon of choice is usually a spear but I did see a few knives flying from her grip. Probably her hands slipped?

Her seiyuu is none other than Yukino Satsuki who voiced as Mizuhara from Azumanga Web Daioh, Arnoul Francoise from Cyborg 009 and (surprisingly) Higurashi Kagome from Inuyasha.

While Kagura is a character that I can strongly relate to, Tae is a character that I aspire to be. Surely life isn't all cupcakes and creamy cheese (mmm, cheese~) but I'd like to think that the world isn't out to get us just because of some mishaps here and there.

Side note: images aren't mine Thanks for reading~
